This workshop is the first of two exploring the recently added New Jersey newspapers in Chronicling America (https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/). In this first part, we’ll introduce techniques and strategies for fuzzy string matching in the R programming language, using the OCR-derived text from the Perth Amboy Evening News. Anyone interested in either fuzzy string matching or textual analysis of mass print is encouraged to attend; no previous coding experience necessary!
